             Another good week for Indian producers in west coast of India . With good arrival from Kerala region the price hit as low as 15.5Rs/Kg(235USD/MT) at the start of the week and ended at 17Rs/Kg (255USD) on saturday . Aprat from Sardines there was good volume of  'Chamman' ( Big Eye Mackerel) landed at 16-17Rs/Kg.(255USD). During end of the week there was no good arrival due to Keral festival 'ONAM'. Hopefully the sardines availability improves in next few weeks .
The Fish Meal price dropped from last week  102-105Rs/Kg (1590USD/MT) for 60% Protein .

6.General News

    During last week we reported regarding Chinese authority visiting factories in Ullal,Mangalore .Export Inspection Council of India (EIC) is believed to be arranging such visits to 3 plants in Ullal and 1 plant in Mukka area . We are not sure what will be the next step from Chinese authorities for export of Fish Meal and Fish Oil to China for India producers . How ever most of the producers believe China will be open for business since next 3 months .

               The weather in West Coast of India is getting better and better for fishing . Fishermen have taken good advantage of the same .With improved fishing from Kerala, Mangalore producers received very good volume of Sardines .The price dropped down to 20.50 - 21Rs/Kg for raw material last week .The oil content of sardines were considerably on a lower side with 2-3% oil yield.
Coming to the local Fish Meal price we have had two different prices for Tamil Nadu fish meal and Mangalore Fish meal  . CP Group bought fish meal from Mangalore producers at 100-104Rs/Kg  and Tamil Nadu producers at 105-108Rs/Kg  for CP 60% . As per our last report the price were expected to drop and it is so now .We believe if the fishing is better then the price will be further down in coming weeks .

6.General News

    As per our last report after several meetings with Green Tribunal in Chennai , Ullal producers have finally managed to get a stay order for short period . We are sure , the producers will manage to avoid further issues and problems with Green Tribunal in coming months . 

3 out of 14 plants in Ullal were still under maintenance and auditing during lat week . Sources say that these audits were for licence for export of Fish Meal to China . Further updates on this will be posted in coming week.

            Fishing was better than last week ,However in consideration with last season fishing is not expected to be good until end of this month .The weather is getting normal with reducing rain and slightly higher temperature last week.The raw fish price remained high at 23-23.50/Kg in Mangalore region and 21-22Rs/Kg in Tuticorin . Local FM price remained high at 110-115Rs/Kg .there were reports 60% FM selling at 115/Kg in Ullal ,Mangalore . We expect the price to go down by 5-7Rs for next week as we feel the the Largest local fish meal buyer CP group in India will start to reduce the price since coming week in order to control the market.

    On August 4th Green Tribunal directed Karnataka State Pollution Control Board to close 14 Fish Meal Plants of Ullal region. http://www.udayavani.com/english/news/mangaluru/88191/green-tribunal-directs-kspcb-close-down-14-fish-mills-ullal   .There were several meetings happening in last two weeks to get a stay for this order from Green Tribunal .We personally feel Ullal plants will manage to get a upper hand on this and get a stay  as soon as possible . 

Imports of fish meal is believed to more in next two months . But now the real worry is if CP Group reduces the price further down to control the market , then Importers importing Fish Meal at low margins will face big problems in next few months.

            As expected 1st week of season in India was very much mixed condition as the first 3 days were without any fishing at Mangalore and Malpe fishing ports due to protests .Mangalore fish meal producers bought Sardines at 23Rs/Kg(365USD/MT) from Kerala . There is still no much sardines available at local ports in Mangalore and Malpe . Raw fish is the concern which is making producers to compete with each other to run their operations. The price of fish meal remained same from last week . Producers in Tutitcorin area sold Fishmeal at 110Rs/Kg  to CP group.

    1000 MT of Fish Meal from Morocco has been imported this week to Mangalore Port .

6.General News

    We are not surprised to see 1000 MT of Moroccan FM being imported to Mangalore .The price mentioned in the customs is 500USD/MT but we know for the fact that ,this is not the right price and it has been done to save import duty . According to us the price should be between 1350-1400USD/MT . We expect more and more fish meal will be imported in next few months to different ports in India . As we reported in last weeks report trend of Indian Fish Meal industry is changing indeed.
